Binary File Through Clipboard
Need to transfer a binary file to a locked-down machine that you access through Windows Remote Desktop?
In my case, I was lucky enough that the machine has WinZip on it. WinZip extracts uuencoded files. First I extracted the file on my local machine:
- Download a free uuencode utility
- UUEncoded the binary file
- Open the encoded file in Notepad
- Copy its contents into the clipboard
Then I recreated the file on the destination machine:
- Open Notepad on the destination machine
- Past the contents into Notepad
- Saved the file with a .uue extension
- Extract it again with WinZip
