Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Server side-error occurred on sending debug HTTP request.

I moved my ASP.NET application to a virtual directory under “My Documents”. When I tried to run it, I got this error:

Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Server side-error occurred on sending debug HTTP request.

Make sure the server is operating correctly. Verify there are no syntax errors in web.config by doing a Debug.Start Without Debugging. You may also want to refer to the ASP.NET and ATL Server debugging topic in the online documentation.

When I tried to Start Without Debugging, I got this page:

Server cannot access application directory ‘C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\Dir\Subdir\web\’. The directory does not exist or is not accessible because of security settings.

The solution was to give access to the My Documents folder to the ASPNET user.
