Backups for Geeks

I like to have control. I want the “Settings” dialog for an application to have many pages of configurable options. I love software that lets me tweak it to work exactly the way I want.

Normal people want simple. I do not have a recommendation for normal people.

For people like me, I recommend Syncovery as your backup software. I backup my work data to an encrypted drive daily. I backup my personal data to Amazon Drive daily. Because I’m paranoid, I backup my Amazon Drive data to Google Drive weekly. All of this is done automatically by Syncovery, running on my laptop.

Tobias (the author) provides good support for the software. It still follows the old-school model of paying for software once, so the $60 may seem like a lot, but you’ll definitely get your money’s worth over the years.
