Jeremy Stein - Journal

I think there may be a few people who would actually like to read the gibberish I publish in this online journal. (Well, OK, maybe just my mom.) But, I had a problem: those people don’t know when I post a new entry. Cool people like Mark use RSS readers, but most of my readers (i.e. Mom) have no idea how to use my RSS feed.

Today, I finally found a solution to that problem. I now have a subscribe form! Thanks to the plug-in from Brian Groce, you can type your email into the form on the left nav to receive a notification whenever there’s a new post. (This site has changed since I wrote this.)

Oooo… Now, use the plugin to send out comments on your website.

Then make responses to those emails show up as comments.

Then make it usable via NNTP.

If you get this far, you’ve gotten what Flutterby has

If you accompilsh this, we’ll call you an hacker.

Yeah, see, that’s all fine and good, but there’s a finite amount of self-centeredness that is healthy. (One might even suggest that having a blog involves some level of self-centeredness, but for argument’s sake we’ll just say that the level of self-centeredness is proportional to the amount of effort you put into something that attempts to describe you.) I mean, I crossed that line the moment I registered but we don’t really need to encourage Jeremy in this regard now, do we?
